How the SJS Endowment Makes a Difference
We believe socioeconomic diversity enriches the educational experience, promotes equity and inclusivity, and prepares students for a diverse and interconnected world.
Through generous donations, the endowment fund provides financial assistance to qualified students, putting an SJS education within reach for families who would not otherwise apply and allows us to attract a broader range of students.
Originally established in 2013 with the Diamond Family Bursary Fund, the Endowment Fund has since expanded to include the Stephen Hutchison Fund, the Alumni Bursary Fund and the Mark and Kendra Sander Family Fund.
The donations to the endowment fund are invested by a professional investment manager pursuant to policies and guidelines set and overseen by the SJS Board of Governors. The overall investment goal of the fund is to maximize total return while maintaining a primary view of preserving the principal investment (your donation). Only the returns generated by donations are used to fund financial assistance. In turn, donations made to the endowment fund provide a long-term benefit to students and our community.
Over the last decade, we have been investing funds, and receiving philanthropic gifts, to support financial assistance. We are focused on continuing to grow our endowment fund to attract deserving students and increase the diversity within our community. Your donation serves to support the long-term betterment of SJS.
