Admissions to 2026–2027
We have a very limited number of spaces in Grades 10 and 11 for September 2026 entry. If you are interested, please contact admissions@sjs.ca to discuss an application.
To express your interest for all other grades or 2027 entry, please complete our online interest form. We will reach out when an opportunity to apply becomes available.
Key Intake Grades
Key Intake Grades are grade levels with confirmed openings for the 2026–2027 academic year. Applicants to these grades are automatically invited to attend an Admissions Assessment.
Key Intake Grades Include: Junior Kindergarten (14 openings), Kindergarten (18 openings), Grade 1 (4 openings), Grade 4 (4 openings) and Grade 11 (4 openings).

All Other Grades
Openings in other grades is based on attrition, which varies year over year. Applicants to other grades are first shortlisted before being invited to attend the admissions assessment.
This includes: Grades 2, 3, 5 (PYP) and Grades 6 to 10 (MYP).

Key Intake Grade Admissions Process
All applicants to Junior Kindergarten, Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 4, and Grade 11 will be invited to attend the Admissions Assessment, as these grades have confirmed openings for the upcoming school year.

Step-by-Step Process: Key Intake Grades (JK/K/1/4/11)
Step 1: Complete Online Application
- Submit application and pay application fee ($350).
- Upload required supporting documents through the online Applicant Checklist by the deadline.
- Make SSAT scores available to SJS (organizational code #6531) through the SSAT portal (Applicants to Grade 8-11 only).
Step 2: Attend Admissions Assessment (all applicants)
- Save the Admissions Assessment Dates from the table above in your calendar (dates vary by entering grade).
- Following the application deadline, applicants will receive confirmation of their assigned assessment date and time. Attendance is mandatory to be considered for admission. Please note that we are unable to accommodate requests for an alternate date.
- For JK, K and Grade 1: There will be no virtual assessment available. Applicants to these grades must attend the assessment in person. However, for shortlisted applicants, parent interviews can be conducted virtually.
- A virtual assessment may be arranged only for applicants to Grades 2 and above.
Step 3: Shortlist Decision
- The Admissions Committee reviews all applications and assessment results, including report cards and the reference form.
- Shortlisted applicants will be notified when the review process is complete. Please refer to the ‘Admissions Process Overview’ table above, as dates vary by grade level.
- Parents of shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview with a member of the Admissions team.
Step 4: Parent or Family Interview (Shortlisted applicants only)
- Shortlisted applicant parents will be invited to attend an interview with a member of the Admissions Team. Interviews can be conducted either virtually or in person:
- JK to Grade 5: Interview with parents/guardians only, approximately 30 minutes.
- Grades 11: Interview with the applicant and their parents/guardians, approximately 45 minutes.
- Current SJS families and those who have already completed an interview for the 2025–2026 intake year will not be required to participate in an additional interview. However, they are welcome to request one if they wish.
Step 5: Admission Decision
- After a final review of all shortlisted applications, the Admissions Committee will make offers based on the number of available openings in each grade.
- The first round of decisions will be released on the scheduled Decision Date, as outlined in the table above. Please note that dates vary by entering grade.
- As openings become available, additional offers may be made from the wait pool on a rolling basis.
All Other Grades Admissions Process
SJS welcomes applications to all grades. However, the number of openings in Grades 2, 3, 5 (PYP) and Grades 6 to 10 (MYP) depends on attrition and varies each year.
Applicants to Grades 2, 3, 5 (PYP), and Grades 6 to 10 (MYP) will be invited to the Admissions Assessment once they have been shortlisted. Although openings in these grades depend on attrition, we still welcome and encourage you to apply.

Step-by-Step Process – For Other Grades (Grades 2, 3, 5 and Grades 6 to 10)
Step 1: Complete Online Application

Step 2: Shortlist Notification (Invitation to Assessment)
- The Admissions Committee reviews all applications and supporting documentation, including report cards, and considers the number of anticipated openings.
- Shortlisted applicants are invited to attend the admissions assessment. Shortlist notification dates vary by grade. Refer to the Admissions Process Overview in the table above.
- Siblings of current SJS students are automatically shortlisted and invited to the admissions assessment.
Step 3: Attend Admissions Assessment (Shortlisted applicants only)
- Save the Admissions Assessment dates, listed in the table above, in your calendar.
- Shortlisted applicants will receive their assessment time in their invitation. While we cannot offer alternate dates or times, applicants to Grade 2 and above may request a virtual assessment.
Step 4: Parent Interview (Select grades, by invitation)
- Grades 2, 3, 5: The Admissions Committee will review assessment results and consider the number of available openings (if any). Parents of selected applicants will be invited to interview with a member of the Admissions team; the interview can be attended either online or in person.
- For current SJS families or families who completed an interview for the 2025–2026 intake year, an additional interview is not required; however, if shortlisted, they are welcome to request one if they wish.
- Grades 6 to 10: No additional interview is required. Parents will be asked to provide their insights through the application form, and the student interview is incorporated into the admissions assessment.
Step 5: Admission Decision
- Additional offers will be made to applicants in the wait pool as more spaces become available, on a rolling basis. The waitpool remains active through the summer.
- Following the admissions assessment, the Admissions Committee will conduct a final review of all shortlisted applications, assessment results and available openings by grade and communicate a first round of decisions on the scheduled Decision Date (dates vary by grade, please refer to the table above).
- As Grades 2, 3, 5 to 10 are not key intake grades, the number of offers will be determined based on attrition following the re-enrolment period.
