Our two new school buses were funded by our annual giving programme. The two vehicles purchased this summer boast safety features that have never been seen before on school buses. These include seatbelts for the children, climate control and chains that automatically attach to the wheels with the push of a button.
Shail Prasad, St. John’s School bus driver, takes great pride in his role and the buses’ many attributes. When families came to the Back to School Barbecue, he offered tours of the buses so everyone could see how useful they truly are. ‘We installed hand sanitizers for the children to use as soon as they get on,” he says. “We have a first aid kit on board and sanitize the entire bus every time they get off. It’s the fantastic sound system, however, that the students enjoy the most!” Masks, sani wipes and gloves are also available for the students riding the bus.
A big thanks to everyone who is using our school bus programme. It supports a sustainable transport option and reduces congestion around the school.
